
Introduction to Human Resource Management
The Introduction to Human Resource Managementcourse allow students to understand the principles and practices of Human Resource Management (HRM) and give them the opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills and techniques gained in the training to the workplace. The students will be engaged in active learning and practical demonstrations of HR concepts so that their experiences can be shared with their peers. They will also be able to critique the handling of situations in the workplace and understand the role of different persons in an organization. The course will cover the evolution of HRM from the early days of personnel management as well as the practice of the different functions of HR such as; hiring and staffing, HR planning, employee relations, staff welfare, learning and development, relevant legislation, performance management and compensation. Students will participate in group activities aimed at allowing them to apply the principles of HRM in a simulated setting.
